The Black Jackrabbit (Lepus insularis) is a species of mammal in the family Leporidae. Endemic to Mexico, it is known only from Espiritu Santo Island in the Gulf of California. The population is threatened by habitat loss. This taxon is regarded by some authorities as a subspecies of L. californicus.[2]
